George Brassens was a Poet, Singer, Songwriter, iconoclast and Languedoc hero. He came from the Mediterranean port of Sète where there is now a museum dedicated to him.Some of his songs are about The Languedoc or the Midi more generally. Examples are Heureux qui comme Ulysse about Provence and the Camargue; Supplique pour être enterré sur une plage de Sète, a tongue-in-cheek request to be buried on the beach at Sète; and Chanson pour l'Auvergnat.
