General Information. This website is for English speakers interested in the Languedoc.  The site aims to provide you with all the information you might need about the area.   If you cannot find what you want here, then you should at least be able to find out where else to look for it.

The site is designed specifically for those planning to visit the area, whether for a few days or the rest of their lives, but with the following proviso.  If your idea of a visit to the Languedoc involves modern holiday complexes, purpose built resorts, Watney's Red Barrel, laughing at the funny foreigners, power boats and helicopter rides, then this is not the site for you.

This site is designed for 1024x768 or higher resolution monitors and is best viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 / Netscape 4.8 or later.

Website Conventions. We have tried to make it easy to navigate around the site.  The options at the head and foot of each page are always the same.   Those at the foot are all about the website.  Those at the head duplicate the top level menu as in the panel below.

A flag like this Oc, Occitan, Occitania. indicates that a word is Occitan, or if it is next to a link then the link is to an Occitan site.
A flag like this Catalan Flag. indicates that a word is Catalan, or if it is next to a link then the link is to a Catalan site.
A flag like this French Flag. indicates that a word is French, or if it is next to a link then the link is to a French site.
A flag like this English Flag. next to a link indicates that the link is to an English site.

Internal links within a section are shown in dark red, like this. If you click on them a new page will generally open in the same window.

Internal links to another part of the site are shown in purple, like this. If you click on them a new page will generally open in the same window.

Internal links to associated articles are shown in dark green, like this. If you click on them a new page will generally open in a new window.

Links to other sites are shown in blue, like this. If you click on them the page will open in a new window.

The roundbuttons in the top right hand margin provide a quick way to go directly to the pages higher in the hierarchy all the way up to the home page. The square buttons below them offer a range of functions, namely:

  • add current page to favorites
  • search this site
  • e-mail webmaster with information about a broken link
  • e-mail webmaster with new information
  • open a mystery link to another website in a new window
  • e-mail webmaster with a correction
  • emergency contact numbers

We hope you find it useful, and would be grateful for your help in improving it.  Please contact us with any suggestions, additions, corrections or updates.

Where we have been unable to confirm or refute a piece of information we have maked it like this:  Please click here to e-mail the webmaster if you can confirm or refute this, and in either case cite a reliable source.  If can provide a definitive answer, with authoritive reference where possible, we'd be most grateful.  Just click on the symbol wherever it appears to e-mail the webmaster.
